The (VAC) provides information to student athletes about how to reach their full potential, college requirements, social pressures, sportsmanship and professional careers and through the highly revered T.P.O.S. program.  T.P.O.S. (Total Preparation for Opportunities via Sports) is a program founded by the Virginia Athletic Council to create awareness for student athletes and their families of the infinite opportunities available through sports.

To mentor, provide guidance and assist athletes prior to, during and after their athletic careers, helping to ensure preparation for postgraduate and/or professional athletic endeavors.  To nurture the development of competency and confidence as these individuals adjust to the pressures involved with participating in athletic competition. To operate exclusively in a manner for such charitable purposes as will qualify it under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended or under any corresponding provisions of any subsequent federal laws covering the distribution to organizations qualified as tax exempt organizations under the Internal Revenue Code, as amended, including foundations and private operating foundations.
To provide training, technical assistance and solutions to student athletes regarding adhering to rules, regulations and legal policies that address student athletes involved in middle school, high school, collegiate and professional athletics, thereby better preparing them to handle the responsibilities and challenges of high profile athletic competition and team leadership, improving the long term success of athletes in Virginia during and outside of athletic competition.
