It has been said that when three knocks are placed on a closed door, it shall be opened from within. The VAC is not only fortunate that our newest intern, Miss Ashley Jones, knocked on our door; we are lucky that we were there to open it! The fruit of this encounter being a striking power that comes from words, and the even greater gift to be able to share it.
THE VAC WELCOMES MS. ASHLEY O. JONES
Virginia Athletic Council
Building Men & Women via Athletics©
Currently a Multimedia Journalism Graduate Student at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, Ms. Jones gained a love for writing early in the fifth grade after winning a contest for poetry. To be able to express thoughts in a manner that many find difficult to do was interesting to her; it drew her in because as she recently stated, "I surpassed my own expectations".
It was not until she was a freshman in high school that Ashley realized she could make a career from placing her pen onto a white canvas. Years later the interest expanded into potentially becoming a reporter, whether in front or behind the camera.
And so the journey began as this focused, young professional was accepted by the highly academically-rated Randolph-Macon College located in Ashland, Virginia where she majored in Communication Studies with a Minor in Journalism. Possessing an equally strong athletic resume as a point guard from Atlantic Shores Christian School, Ashley played college basketball for the Lady Yellow Jackets, one of the top women's teams in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
She has served as Assistant Girl's Basketball Coach at Atlantic Shores Christian School, certified as a Virginia High School League Basketball Official and is a Trained Mediator.
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Ashley O. Jones to the Virginia Athletic Council family as we encourage you to enjoy the works of her pen at the adjacent link; it is expected like the VAC, you will find that Ashley is on point!
